Meet Our Team

Dr. Amy Wilson, Veterinarian

advertisement1I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian from the time I was 5 years old. Growing up on a small farm in Rockwood, Ontario where my family raised beef cattle, chickens and eventually had horses I was exposed to many aspects of farm life and veterinary care.  The family veterinarian often let me watch and “help” when he was on the farm for calvings (which at the time both captivated me and completely grossed me out!)  My family was never without some furry family members and my sister and I could often be found out in the fields with our two labs exploring and having picnics

My love for horses became deeper when I was eleven and I asked for horseback riding lessons for my birthday.  This became a lifelong passion and I have loved many horses, in both English and Western riding endeavours, including two of my own named Leap of Faith and Scout over the years.

Upon completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Biology in 2003 I spent some time living in Banff National Park.  Here I volunteered with a local researcher studying mountain lions, a wildlife veterinarian in the area and worked part time for the Living with Wildlife program educating park visitors on how to camp and hike safely with the local wildlife.  Although I enjoyed living out west I missed my family and friends back home and wanted to pursue my veterinary dreams in Ontario.

Upon my return home, I was thrilled to be accepted into the Ontario Veterinary College, graduating in 2008.  My career started out just North of London practicing both equine and small animal medicine. From here I decided to keep horses as my hobby and pursue a career in companion animal medicine in London.   Although I have truly enjoyed the time I have spent at some of the clinics in the area where I have gained many lifelong friends and valuable colleagues, I found myself wanting to pursue one of many career goals – practice ownership.  It is with this in mind that I am starting Wilson Mobile Veterinary Services after returning from my second maternity leave.

There are many things that I enjoy about being a veterinarian, but one of the biggest reasons is that I truly love meeting people and their furry family members.  I strive to provide the best care for all my patients and help foster the human animal bond through practicing high standards of preventative and diagnostic medicine with the aim of helping pets live a long and healthy life with their families. I find getting to know my patients and their families and helping them throughout their lives to be the most rewarding aspect of my career choice.

In my personal life I enjoy spending time with my family – both human and furry.  I am a single mom to two beautiful and amazing children, a boy named David and a girl named Peyton.  We share our home with two black labs – Dolly and Nora, as well as a rescue cat named Snuggles (or “Snugs”).  In the rest of my “spare” time I also love reading, hiking, paddleboarding/kayaking, mountain biking, horseback riding and I have been learning how to play the violin/fiddle.

I am very excited to see where Wilson Mobile Veterinary Services will lead me.  I look forward to meeting new patients and their families, as well as continue to see some of the familiar faces I have gotten to know and love over the years. I feel that by providing service within their homes, the cats and dogs in my care can feel less stressed out by veterinary visits and therefore so can their people!

Paula McLean, Veterinary Technician

Hello, I am Paula McLean, I graduated from Ridgetown College in 2004 as a Veterinary technician and shortly there after received my registration to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. I started working in a mixed animal practice as soon as I graduated and did that for 10 years. After my fourth child I decided to stay home and be with them. Now as my youngest will be off to school in the fall and the opportunity to work for Wilson Mobile Veterinary Services came up it was perfect for what I wanted to have the balance between work and home life. I have missed the veterinary work for the last 5 years, but am glad to be back at it meeting lots of new clients and their furry family members.

Kaitlyn O’Neil , Veterinary Assistant

Hi, I’m Kaitlyn, and I graduated from the University of Guelph in 2013 with a degree in Animal Biology. I worked in the livestock feed industry for a few years before making my way back to the veterinary world which I truly enjoy. I am very excited to be a part of the Wilson Mobile team and to meet clients and new furry friends. When I am not at work you will find me in the barn – whether it be with my sheep, dairy cattle or riding horses. I also enjoy spending time outdoors with my dog.
